"Finding the Missing Peace" & TRANSCEND-USA launched

Johan Galtung visited the Program in Conflict Studies & Dispute Resolution at UNCG on May 21st for a one-day workshop entitled “Finding the Missing Peace: The role of peace scholars in policy development” . Dr. Galtung began the day with a lecture entitled “Mega Conflicts: Region and Civilization Fault-Lines”.

With this visit, Dr. Galtung also helped launch TRANSCEND-USA Peace and Conflict Studies Consortium, which includes The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford College, Appalachian State University, and North Carolina A&T State University.  TRANSCEND-USA is a formal member of the TRANSCEND Peace and Development Network located in Basel, Switzerland.    TRANSCEND hosts TRANSCEND Peace University, a Research Institute, and University Press.
