The fall semester has been so busy that it's been hard to keep up with everything that's been going on and remember to post the information. Here's a recap in brief...
Dr. Matyok presented a workshop on "Mindfulness in Conflict Resolution Practice" to the North Carolina Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution and a group of employees of the City of Charlotte. He has a film festival focusing on conflict resolution in the works developing. Keep checking back for more information.
Dr. Hayes had two articles publised, one in the autumn edition of International Family Law on Parenting Coordination and the other in the September issue of Family Law about his experiences as a researcher-practitioner in England. He appeared again with Ret. Judge Bill Daisy on the Murphy in the Morning Show for another on-air radio mediation. He has also been working as a member of the Dispute Resolution Council of the North Carolina Bar Association on the NC Bar's 4All initiative to promote the role of conflict resolution for citizens in North Carolina.
Dr. Witty has been busy admitting new students for the spring, working on developing program initiatives (we're not at liberty to discuss them at this point), developing materials for the expanded program website and headed our first Student Forum on November. We heard from residential and on-line students about their questions, concerns, and ideas for the direction of the program now and in the future. Dr. Witty would like to have one of these forums at least once a year.
Updates to program website
In case you have not been to the program website recently, it has undergone some serious revisions. There are updated syllabi, a new overview of practicum, and in the links section we have information on the faculty and staff, newsletters, approved electives, forms for practicum and the new site for the CIVIC Project. Thanks to Dr. Witty and the web team that put this together for all of us.
